Bio

Rane is one of the newest Instructor’s having acquired appointment from Krav Maga Utah. Rane has literally trained as a martial artist all over the world. He has trained extensively under numerous influences: Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Thai and Filipino; he also has a background in wrestling to compliment his considerable combat training. Having fought national, international and Olympic champions alike, Rane considered himself well-exposed to the world of conventional combat arts. Unfortunately, he always believed that there was something lacking. Despite the diversity of his considerable experience, he felt he was vulnerable because of the limitations imposed by a particular ‘style’. Though his accomplishments in sport-fighting were an enjoyable diversion, he always wondered “…how would this training measure up in the real world?...”.

Rane’s first exposure to Krav Maga was from History Channel’s hit television series: ‘Human Weapon’. Initially skeptical from the advertisement, his thoughts being “…what does the Middle East know about martial arts, anyways?...”, he was quickly won over watching the Krav episode as he observed practical demonstrations of real-world situations, using real-world applications, with real-world results. What impressed him most was the aggressiveness and simplicity of the techniques that literally ANYONE could do…regardless of circumstance, gender, size or environment. Taught to Israeli Commando’s to deal with any situation in a demanding urban-warfare environment, this system proved to be the real deal. Several months later, Rane was introduced to an opportunity to study Krav in Utah from his close friend who had himself started training in his capacity as a Military Specialist.

Krav training was everything Rane hoped it would be, and so much more that he wasn’t aware even existed! “The curriculum is many times beyond anything that I have ever seen from any other style…or any three styles combined for that matter”, says Rane. As a father of two 13-year-old daughters, Rane has already initiated their training under Joseph Gleed’s expert tutelage as well, esteeming Krav as the best solution to prepare his girls for the difficulties of the world in which we live.

One of the things he likes most though is the ‘come as you are’ sentiment of the training. “No uniforms, no rituals, no fluff, no limits…just do what it takes to get the job done – I LOVE THIS STUFF!”
